Get to know Nthanda Manduwi

Nthanda Manduwi is a dynamic entrepreneur and advocate hailing from Mangochi, Malawi.

As the Founder of two successful companies, Bien Corporation Africa and the Ntha Foundation, she has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to fostering innovation and social impact.

Through these ventures, Nthanda has spearheaded a range of subsidiary businesses and initiatives, including the Kwathu Kollective, Digital Skills for Africa, Colance Africa, NMN Africa, Tailored Africa, Bants2Business, and Music4Malawi.

In addition to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Nthanda is a multifaceted professional with diverse talents and passions. She is a published author, blogger, internationally awarded entrepreneur, speaker, media producer, and human rights advocate. Her dedication to social justice and policy advocacy has earned her recognition as an influential figure in her field.

Currently based in Manhattan, New York, Nthanda will in the fall be starting her MBA studies at the Eli Broad College of Business – Michigan State University, specializing in Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics.

Formerly, she was one of 20 selected from a pool of 38,709 applicants for the inaugural UNDP graduate programme, where she worked for two years in Evaluation Analysis and Knowledge Management with the UNDP Independent Evaluation Office in New York, further enhancing her expertise in data-driven decision-making. Prior to that, she held positions as a public officer with the Malawi Revenue Authority.

She also served as the Project Lead for the World Bank-funded Digital Malawi – Digital Skills for All project. Through her NGO, the Ntha Foundation, Nthanda operationalized this project on behalf of the Malawi government, showcasing her commitment to driving impactful change through public-private partnerships.

Her entrepreneurial journey is rooted in her academic achievements, holding a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with specializations in Economics, Demography, and Women’s Empowerment.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship, focusing on the creation and implementation of Digital Information Management Systems in developing nations. With a wealth of experience in digital media, Nthanda aspires to continue her academic pursuits in Media Psychology and Business Economics, further solidifying her position as a leader in the field.

With a strong social media presence and a dedicated following of over 130,000 individuals, she leverages her influence as a business, lifestyle, and travel influencer/content creator to inspire others and drive positive change in her community and beyond.

She has facilitated, and delivered keynotes at various events in Malawi, and in other African countries and hosted events in Africa, Asia and the United States of America.

Nthanda was awarded, ‘African Woman Media Icon Of The Year’ at the Future Women Conference in Lagos, Nigeria, 2020, after delivering a keynote speech at the event.

She was also awarded as the ‘Best Speaker’ out of 83 people in a speech writing and delivery competition at the World Miss University in Cambodia, 2017.

Her unwavering commitment to innovation, advocacy, and empowerment serves as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs and changemakers worldwide.
