Pedro Lopes is the the Secretary of State for Digital Economy, possesses a rich academic background, holding a degree in International Relations from the University of Coimbra and a Masters in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford, UK.

His dedication to fostering intellectual discourse and innovation was evident when he organized Cabo Verde’s inaugural TEDx event.

At the remarkable age of 31, Pedro made history as Cabo Verde’s youngest government member, assuming the role of Secretary of State for Innovation & TVET.

During his tenure, he conceptualized and established the Prime Minister’s Youth Council and spearheaded “Cabo Verde Digital,” a transformative initiative that reshaped the nation’s digital landscape.

Pedro’s commitment to leadership and collaboration extends beyond national borders. He participated in the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders in the United States.

Presently, he serves as Secretary of State for Digital Economy and holds a council membership at the World Economic Forum – Global Future Councils. Additionally, Pedro is honored to be associated with the Obama Foundation.

His exceptional contributions have earned him widespread recognition and accolades. Pedro has been nominated for numerous prestigious awards, including “Personality of the Year 2018” by Jornal Público – P3, inclusion in the “100 Future Leaders: The World’s Most Influential Young People in Government” by Apolitical, and a nomination for the World Politician of the Year Award by One Young World.

He has also  received the “Best of the YearBusiness and Entrepreneurship” award by We are Cabo Verde.
