Temi Popoola currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Exchange Ltd, the operational exchange of the demutualized Nigerian Stock Exchange.

He is widely recognized as a successful C-suite leader with a distinguished career marked by significant achievements in business acumen, financial expertise, global market growth, and operational leadership.

Temi began his career as a Wall Street-trained investment banker in London, where he worked as an asset manager specializing in researching and assessing publicly traded equity investments across Africa’s energy sector.

His next role took him to New York City, USA, as an Equity Derivatives Trader with Bank of America Securities, where he honed his skills in trading and investment advisory services for large corporations and private clients.

Returning to Nigeria after his successful tenure on Wall Street, Temi joined UBA as Head of Structured Products and Investments for global markets. He later led the Sales & Trading business at CSL Stockbrokers, a subsidiary of FCMB. In these roles, he played a pivotal role in attracting global investor capital into Nigeria, particularly from South Africa, London, the US, and domestically. His deep understanding of the Nigerian financial landscape established him as a prominent leader in the industry.

In 2015, he was recruited by Renaissance Capital, where he quickly rose to the CEO position, overseeing the firm’s West Africa operations. During his six-year tenure, he provided strategic leadership and market insight, diversifying revenue streams by introducing fixed income, derivatives, structured products, financing, and wealth management services.

He expanded foreign investor participation in the Nigerian market and implemented innovative strategies that exceeded corporate and client expectations.

Temi Popoola’s passion for business, collaborative team building, and exceeding organizational demands has been a driving force throughout his career.

He holds a First-Class Honors Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a CFA charter holder and holds NASD series 7 and 63 licenses, underscoring his commitment to financial expertise and regulatory compliance.

His leadership at the Nigerian Exchange Ltd continues to set benchmarks in the financial services sector, focusing on driving growth, innovation, and excellence in capital markets across Nigeria and beyond.
