Paula Gopee-Scoon currently serves as the Senator and Minister of Trade and Industry. She was re-elected to represent the constituents of Point Fortin following the General Election of May 24, 2010, having initially been elected in November 2007, when she was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Mrs. Gopee-Scoon holds a B.Sc. in Public Administration and Law from the University of the West Indies. She furthered her studies in Law at the University of London, earning an LLB (Hons.) specializing in Labour and Public International Law. Additionally, she obtained an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University, focusing on Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.
Despite her legal background, Mrs. Gopee-Scoon has also amassed experience in the financial sector, holding various managerial positions in Trinidadian banks from 1982 to 1996. Beyond her professional pursuits, she is an enthusiastic art collector and a mother of three.
