Introducing Khalia Ismain

Khalia Ismain is a dynamic figure committed to empowering Black entrepreneurs and fostering community-driven commerce in the UK.

As the Black Entrepreneurs Programme Manager at Lloyds Banking Group, she plays a pivotal role in advancing the progression of Black-owned businesses. Under her leadership, the program has made significant strides, engaging thousands of Black founders and providing extensive support, grant funding, and opportunities for growth.

The launch of initiatives like Black in Business with Channel 4, which offers substantial TV advertising to select Black businesses, demonstrates Khalia’s dedication to creating tangible opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs.

Beyond her work with Lloyds Banking Group, Khalia is also the co-founder of Jamii, an innovative online marketplace and discovery platform for Black creators and makers. Since its inception in 2016, Jamii has not only provided a platform for over 250 Black-owned businesses but has also cultivated a vibrant community of over 38,000 individuals passionate about supporting purpose-driven commerce.

Khalia’s impact extends beyond her professional roles, earning her recognition as one of Cosmopolitan Magazine’s “24 People Genuinely Making The World A Better Place” in 2021.

Her mission to facilitate shopping with community-owned businesses reflects her commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable economic landscape.

Through her multifaceted efforts with Lloyds Banking Group and Jamii, Khalia Ismain is actively contributing to the empowerment and visibility of Black entrepreneurs while championing commerce that aligns with values of community and purpose.
