Introducing Sijh Diagne

Sijh Diagne currently serves as an Advisor to the Vice President Finance & Chief Financial Officer of the African Development Bank, the continent’s premier Development Finance Institution.

In this pivotal role, he provides strategic coordination and advisory support, contributing to the formulation, review, and implementation of the Bank’s strategic plans and initiatives within the Finance complex.

Prior to his tenure at the African Development Bank, Sijh spent three and a half years as the Senior Advisor to the Minister of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation of Senegal.

His responsibilities included providing strategic counsel on key priorities, contributing to the development of flagship policy programs, and playing a pivotal role in crafting Senegal’s economic resilience plan in response to COVID-19, the Economic recovery plan, and an emergency youth jobs plan.

During Senegal’s chairmanship of the African Union in 2022, Sijh represented the nation at G20 meetings as the Deputy, where he led negotiations on critical policy documents and advocated for Africa’s interests. Additionally, he provided support to the President of Senegal in preparations for the leader’s Summit.

Before his government service, Sijh garnered extensive experience in finance and consulting. He worked as an Investment Banker in the Technology, Media, and Telecom Group at Credit Suisse in New York, served as a Consultant at Mastercard, covering major clients across the Middle East and Africa, and began his career at Oliver Wyman’s Dubai office, advising clients across North America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Recognized as an Archbishop Desmond Tutu fellow, Sijh holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors from Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

His diverse background and expertise make him a valuable asset in driving economic development and strategic initiatives across Africa.
