In subsequent years, he ventured into European and British Formula 3 championships before making his mark in the GP3 Series, where he clinched race victories and secured a runner-up spot in the Toyota Racing Series in 2014.
His debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013 saw him clinch third place in the LMP2 class, followed by an impressive performance the next year, leading the category for a significant duration.
Since 2016, Mardenborough has been a prominent figure in the Japanese racing scene, competing in the esteemed Super GT and Super Formula championships. Notable achievements include securing a race win and contending for titles in the GT300 class of Super GT in 2016, alongside a runner-up finish in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship.
His move to the top GT500 class in 2017 marked a significant milestone, where he consistently challenged for victories and earned a podium finish. Additionally, Mardenborough’s stint in Super Formula yielded a pole position in 2017.
Recognized for his exceptional talent and marketability, Mardenborough was named one of the 50 most marketable athletes in the world by Sports Pro Media in 2015.
His remarkable journey has even inspired the creation of the 2023 film “Gran Turismo,” based on his extraordinary career accomplishments.
