Olatunbosun Tijani is a Nigerian-British entrepreneur and the current Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy in Nigeria, assuming office in 2023.
Under his leadership in 2019, CcHUB, an innovation center he co-founded, acquired Kenya’s iHub and established the CcHUB Design Lab in Kigali, Rwanda. Additionally, Tijani serves as a visiting adjunct professor at the Wits School of Governance.
Born in Agege, Lagos, Nigeria, Tijani spent his early years there before relocating to Abeokuta for his secondary education.
He pursued his higher education at the University of Jos, initially studying Computer Science before switching to Economics, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2002.
He later obtained an MSc in Information Systems and Management from the Warwick Business School, United Kingdom, in 2007.
In 2023, Tijani completed his PhD in innovation and economic development at the University of Leicester, focusing on the network perspective of innovation capacity and its application in explaining the adoption and adaptation of innovation in developing countries, particularly in Africa.
He has participated in various executive programs, including the Innovation for Economic Development program at Harvard Kennedy School in 2013 and the Draper Hills Fellowship at Stanford University’s Centre for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law in 2014.
Prior to his involvement with CcHUB, Tijani worked as a Fellow at the International Trade Centre in Geneva, Switzerland, where he conducted research on trade development, with a focus on enterprise management development.
He led successful initiatives in web-marketing and information services programs in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Tanzania.
During his tenure at Hewlett Packard, Tijani managed various projects, including the deployment of the ODel learning center at the Africa Virtual University in Kenya and the establishment of telecentres in Nigeria.
He also played a pivotal role in implementing the HP Micro-enterprise Acceleration Programme at the Lagos Business School, providing support for its expansion into Egypt and Morocco.
