Let’s meet Paula Ingabire

Paula Ingabire is a passionate technology advocate from Rwanda, currently holding the esteemed position of Minister of ICT and Innovation within the Rwandan Government.

Prior to her ministerial role, she demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Head of the ICT Business Development Department at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). Here, she spearheaded the implementation of pivotal national ICT initiatives, including eGovernment and Cyber Security, while also overseeing the groundbreaking Kigali Innovation City Project. This project, a flagship program of the Rwandan Government, aimed to foster and fortify a Pan-African Innovation ecosystem within Rwanda.

Minister Ingabire played a pivotal role in the establishment of Smart Africa, an initiative focused on leveraging broadband infrastructure to propel Africa’s socio-economic development.

Her educational background is equally impressive, having graduated from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s School of Engineering & Sloan School of Management, with a specialization in the System Design and Management program. She also holds a BS in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from the University of Rwanda.

In recognition of her remarkable contributions to the field of digital governance, Paula Ingabire was named one of the Top 20 of the World’s 100 most influential people in digital government by Apolitical in 2019.

She holds prominent positions on several global boards, including the Global Council of the World Summit Award Board of Directors, the World Economic Forum Cyber Security Board, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Global Network Advisory Board, and the WEF Board of Trustees. In January 2021, she was appointed as a founding board member of the EDISON Alliance, further solidifying her impact and leadership in the realm of technology and innovation.
