Mamadou K. Keita stands as a dedicated machine learning researcher committed to advancing technology in Africa, with a particular focus on developing resources for African languages and cultures.

He spearheads the Feriji project, an innovative endeavor aimed at creating a comprehensive dataset, translation model, and spell checker for the Zarma language. This pioneering initiative marks the first of its kind and holds the noble objective of preserving and promoting the Zarma language and culture.

In addition to his leadership in the Feriji project, Mamadou has made significant contributions as a Machine Learning Engineer to the Gates Foundation-funded project, “Generative AI for Education in Mali.”

This groundbreaking project harnesses the power of AI to combat illiteracy by generating educational books in the Bambara language tailored to cater to diverse readers. Mamadou’s pivotal role in this initiative was recognized during his presentation at the prestigious Deep Learning Indaba 2022 conference.

Beyond his research endeavors, Mamadou generously shares his expertise and passion for technology and education by serving as a Robotics coach for the Malian Robotics team.
