Mr. Samaila Zubairu is the President & CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). He is a prominent advocate for African value capture, job creation, and industrialization.

Over three decades of leadership, he has successfully mobilized billions of dollars towards transformative infrastructure projects.

During his tenure, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC),  leading infrastructure solutions provider, has significantly expanded investments to $11.5 billion. This includes spearheading the largest renewable energy acquisition on the continent and doubling AFC’s membership to 40 African nations. Under his stewardship, AFC was honored as the Best DFI of the Year for Europe and Africa at the recent IJ Global Awards.

Previously, as the pioneer CFO of Dangote Cement Plc, Mr. Zubairu facilitated Africa’s largest syndicated project finance facility for a local corporation. He also played a pivotal role in the unbundling of Dangote Industries Limited, listing subsidiaries on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

More recently, as CEO of Africapital Management Limited, Mr. Zubairu collaborated with Old Mutual’s African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) to launch the Nigerian Infrastructure Investment Fund1. This initiative aims to stimulate private equity investment in infrastructure projects across West Africa.

Mr. Zubairu is an Eisenhower Fellow and serves on the Board of Trustees for the fellowship.
