Meet Taiwo Owatemi

Taiwo Owatemi, elected as the Member of Parliament for Coventry North-West in December 2019, brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to her role.

Prior to her parliamentary career, she distinguished herself as a Senior Cancer Pharmacist, demonstrating her commitment to public health and community well-being.

Owatemi’s influence extends beyond her constituency, as she actively contributes to national health initiatives.

She is a valued member of the Strategic Advisory Board for Cancer Research UK and the King’s College London Cancer Prevention Trial Unit, where her focus on cancer screening, early detection, and prevention is instrumental in shaping impactful trials.

Currently serving as an Opposition Whip and a member of the Health and Social Care Committee, she continues to champion healthcare policies that benefit all citizens.

Her past roles include serving as the Shadow Women and Equalities Minister, as well as contributing to the International Trade Committee and serving as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Home Office.

Beyond healthcare, Owatemi is deeply engaged in various parliamentary groups, holding office in multiple All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs).

Notably, she serves as Co-Chair of the APPG for Child Criminal Exploitation and Knife Crime, and the APPG for Pharmacy, demonstrating her commitment to addressing critical social issues.

Through her diverse experiences and unwavering dedication to public service, she plays a vital role in shaping policies and initiatives that positively impact communities both locally and nationally.
