Just recently the Malian re-elected President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita appointed and named 35 years old Kamissa Camara as Minister for Foreign Affairs on his cabinet.
Before we go deep into let’s talk about her previous roles before she became Foreign Affairs Minister for Mali.
Before her appointment, she was previously the diplomatic advisor to President Keita which alongside her duties as founder and co-chair of the Sahel Strategy Forum that gives the avenue to stakeholders to promote peace, security and development across the Sahel. As part of her duties as Diplomatic advisor to President Keita she has been very outspoken about strategic partnership with Mali and other countries most especially industrial power country, China.
She holds an M.A. in International Economics and Development from Université Pierre Mendès France after completing a B.A. in Applied Foreign Languages, specializing in International Relations from Université Denis Diderot (Paris, France).
She is the first woman to hold this post in the history of Mali to hold this post and now among the 11 women of 32 ministers in Mali’s new cabinet.
