MIPAD Intensifies Efforts at Uplifting People of African Descent Worldwide

The Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), a global civil society, has resolved to re-double its efforts towards elevating global Black narratives and uplifting our people & continent at every opportunity it gets. This is one of the take-outs from its global team retreat, held in Accra, Ghana from Friday, 4-6 February, 2022.

 

One of the high points of the Ghana event was the celebration of the MIPAD honorees based in Ghana who were invited on Day 1 to meet and interact with the Global Executive Team and Advisory Board members. Kevin Okyere, the Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Group, a MIPAD honoree was guest speaker at the networking event.

 

The MIPAD global team retreat, which was chaired by Abayomi Awobukun and had in attendance all the Global Executive Team and Advisory Board members, afforded the participants the opportunity to re-evaluate the Organisation’s operations in the five years of its existence. They discussed how best to facilitate the realization of the objectives for which the Organization was set up. Kamil Olufowobi, Chief Executive Officer of MIPAD, said that, although the Organisation has fared well over the past five years, given its achievements, it is time to step up its efforts for the bigger tasks ahead. He recounted some of the achievements of the MIPAD and thanked the Global Executive Team and Advisory Board members for their support.

 

“The Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) has recorded many milestones in its five-year existence, chief among which is the fact that we have become a global platform that recognizes high achievers of African descent worldwide who are celebrated as MIPAD honorees. So far, we have over 800 honorees, comprising of decision makers from over 80 countries. This is a collective achievement and I congratulate and thank each and every one
of you for your unflinching support.”

 

Olufowobi also used the forum to inform the honorees worldwide as well as other stakeholders of the MIPAD’s about the forthcoming 5th year anniversary celebration and the five-days/four-nights activities lined up to take place in Lagos, Nigeria. The global event happening in Lagos from 24-28 March, 2022 will include investment forum, anniversary gala, tour of Lagos, tree-planting campaign, art exhibition, music concert among others.
