Dolapo Afolayan is a Section Chief-Personnel Licensing at the California Department of Public Health.
As a California-certified public health microbiologist, she exercises oversight over 65,000 licensed laboratory personnel in the state of California. She also provides guidance on policy, legislation, and regulations impacting statewide laboratory personnel.
Her section is responsible for providing oversight over training programs and the licensure approval of clinical laboratory directors, clinical laboratory scientists, public health microbiologists, cytotechnologists, medical laboratory technicians, and phlebotomy certifications.
She leads a team that is responsible for the approval of national certifying examinations for laboratory personnel licensure as is required in California. She is a graduate of the University of California Davis and San Francisco State University.
