Ayo Sotinrim

Ayo is an investment management professional with SAO Capital, where he is overseeing the growth of operating and development-stage investments in infrastructure, renewable energy assets as well as impact investments in Agriculture, education, healthcare, and sustainable energy across Africa.

He is a Leading policy and investment advisor to senior African policymakers and international C-Suite investors, with a focus on economic reform, energy sector restructuring, privatization and public-private partnerships, public sector reform, and public financial management issues.

He has served as Special Adviser to many African Governments including the Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Senior Power Infrastructure Advisor to the $90m, Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF II) where he was seconded to the Presidency, Bureau of Public Enterprises (Nigeria’s Privatization Agency) as the Head of Power Post-Privatisation ($2bn+ Power Privatisation of GENCOs & DISCOs), to advise the board, enhance the power sector reform programme, develop sector policy, legislation, and for several years he was the Lead Safeguards Advisor at the World Bank $115m Public-Private Partnership implementation Unit support to the Presidency, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Finance.

He is also a board member of Africa 2.0 Global and Strategic Agenda ltd. Prior to this, Ayo worked for Deutsche Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the British Aisles (Guernsey, Jersey, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Thomson Reuters, and Milward Brown amongst others.
Specialties: Public policy, Capital Markets, project finance, private equity, PPPs with a reliable network of high-level contacts in Africa. In-depth knowledge of renewable energy (Solar PV hybrid), water, and agro-allied sectors.

He received an undergraduate and an MBA Degree from Oxford University and an MSc from Warwick University. Ayo serves on various boards including Africa 2.0 and he received a distinction as ‘New Leader for Tomorrow by the Crans Montana Forum’ in 2019.
