
Haile Owusu serves as the Senior Vice President of Applied Data Science and Machine Learning at Warner Bros Discovery (WBD).
His primary focus lies in harnessing machine learning to reduce operational burdens, expand revenue opportunities, and enhance the quality of the viewing experience.
Owusu plays a pivotal role in driving technological advancements. Within the Content and Ads Platform, he oversees ML applications across the content supply chain, ads platform, and live & VOD video platforms.
Before joining WBD, Owusu held the position of Chief Data Scientist at Mashable. There, he spearheaded the development and enhancement of Velocity technology, which predicts and tracks the viral life cycle of digital media content.
During his tenure, he established and led a data science team responsible for leveraging internal and external technologies to forecast the interests of Mashable’s diverse consumer base, thereby bolstering the company’s marketing efforts and audience growth.
Prior to his role at Mashable, Owusu directed all research endeavors at SocialFlow, a leading social media optimization platform catering to prominent brands and publishers.
Dr. Owusu commenced his journey with WarnerMedia, now Warner Bros Discovery, in 2018, where he took charge of the organization’s data science and machine learning strategy.
Educationally, Owusu holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, a Master of Science from King’s College, University of London, and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University. With a background in theoretical physics, he is committed to mentoring emerging physicists within the industry.
