Zan Chandler is a dynamic foresight analyst and innovation facilitator affiliated with KerrSmith Design, a Toronto-based strategic foresight and design firm.

With a diverse background spanning strategic foresight, innovation, policy analysis, media production, and linguistics, Zan brings a unique perspective to her work. Her professional journey has encompassed roles with management consultants, provincial and federal government agencies, as well as creative and cultural organizations.

With over two decades of experience in the Canadian cultural sector, Zan’s expertise lies in the intersection of analytical and creative thinking. She excels in applying systems and futures thinking to define complex problems or opportunities, extracting key insights, and crafting innovative, human-centered solutions for the future.

Her portfolio encompasses a wide array of sectors, including the creative economy, healthcare, manufacturing, post-secondary education, professional regulation, and public policy. Zan’s foresight work has left a mark on diverse industries, including arts and culture, creative industries, professional regulation, post-secondary education, and public transport.

As a skilled facilitator, Zan has guided both large and small groups through innovation and futures workshops, fostering collaboration and creative problem-solving.

Zan is an alumna of the University of Toronto, Ryerson University, OCAD University, and the CFC Media Lab. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is deeply engaged in volunteer activities, spanning alumni engagement at various institutions, board positions on artist-run and cooperative organizations, judging emerging futurists’ works with the Association of Professional Futurists, and peer-mentoring with Women in Communications and Technology.

In her leisure time, Zan indulges her passion for travel and photography, particularly capturing the beauty of bodies of water and architecture.
