Mr.Melaku is the Minister of Industry, FDRE Ministry of Trade and Industry in Ethiopia.

His previous roles have been; Minister of Trade and Industry, FDRE Ministry of Trade and Industry, 2020 – 2021, Vice president and bureau head of industry and Investment, Amhara Regional State, 2018 –2020, Minister of Trade, FDRE Ministry of Trade, 2018, Investment Commissioner, Amhara Regional State Investment Commission, 2015 – 2018, Various leadership roles in Amhara Trade and Transport Bureau and Amhara Industry  and Urban Development Bureau 2010 – 2015 and Various roles in the former North Goner Zone and Woreda 1996 to 2010.

In his academic he has BSc in Plant Science from Haromaya University and an MBA in Executive Business Administration from Bahirdar University; graduated scoring higher grade.
