Hon. Oneidge Walrond serves as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce in Guyana, appointed on August 7, 2020.

Her portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities focused on enhancing Guyana’s business environment and developing its tourism industry to foster globally competitive enterprises. She oversees key entities such as the Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission, the Small Business Bureau, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards, and the Guyana Tourism Authority.

With over two decades of legal experience, Minister Walrond is an Attorney-at-Law admitted to the Bar in 1998. Her legal career spans both the public and private sectors. Initially starting at the criminal bar as a junior associate, she later served as a magistrate for several years. Returning to private practice, she specialized in property law and conveyancing.

Minister Walrond’s diverse professional background has equipped her with a profound understanding of societal challenges and a commitment to addressing them effectively. She possesses a deep appreciation of regulatory compliance issues faced by businesses, particularly small enterprises.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana, a Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School, and a Master of Laws from Florida Coastal School of Law.
