Allen Sophia Asiimwe is a prominent Ugandan advocate and policy leader with over 20 years of experience as a development advisor and practitioner.

Currently serving as the Chief of Programmes at Trade Mark East Africa, she is deeply committed to shaping Africa’s narrative on governance, trade, and regional integration.

Throughout her career, Allen has designed and managed programs across the African continent for government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and donors. Her work spans various East African countries, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and the DRC.

Previously, Allen served as CEO of AVID Development, a regional consulting firm specializing in trade, development, and governance issues in Africa. She also contributed her expertise as a consultant to the African Export Import Bank (AFREXIMBANK) in Cairo, Egypt, supporting the Intra Africa Trade initiative.

At TradeMark East Africa, Allen held the role of Chief Technical Officer, guiding the organization’s technical and strategic direction across 12 countries in East and Southern Africa.

Beyond her professional roles, Allen co-founded the Girls For Girls Global Mentoring Initiative, dedicated to empowering girls and young women to lead and effect change in their communities. The initiative operates in 13 countries and aims to engage 10,000 mentors and impact one million mentees by 2025.

Allen holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School (Edward Mason Fellow, 2017) and a Master’s in International Business Law from the University of Manchester, UK (1998).
