In September 2010, Chinonso Emehelu was appointed the Director, Sub-Saharan Africa, International Government Relations, ExxonMobil Corporation. In this role, he supports international government relationship building, energy policy and influencing strategies for Sub-Saharan African countries from Washington, D.C.
Chinonso joined ExxonMobil in 2008 as an Upstream Public and Government Affairs Advisor in ExxonMobil Production Company Headquarters in Houston. In that role, he worked on projects that involved operations support for ExxonMobil’s strategic relations plans in the Americas, the Middle East and Russia.
Chinonso earned a bachelor’s of engineering in electrical electronics from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria and a master’s of international affairs degree with a focus on international energy management and policy from Columbia University, New York. Chinonso is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
