Dr. Joseph Nyangon, Ph.D., brings over two decades of expertise in technology innovation, engineering, and clean energy systems to his role as a distinguished executive.
Currently serving as the Deputy Director for Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of State and Community Energy Programs, Dr. Nyangon plays a pivotal role in orchestrating strategic investments totaling nearly $10 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act across U.S. states and territories.
These investments are geared towards propelling advancements in energy efficiency and electrification, crucial components in achieving the nation’s ambitious climate objectives.
Prior to his tenure at the U.S. Department of Energy, Dr. Nyangon held the position of Head of Power and Utilities Innovation and Senior Industry Consultant at SAS Institute. In this capacity, he spearheaded the market development of cutting-edge analytics solutions tailored for the energy and utilities sector.
By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and predictive analytics technologies, he facilitated strategic investment decisions, streamlined the integration of clean energy solutions, and expedited the commercialization of revolutionary technologies.
Moreover, Dr. Nyangon forged strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including state agencies, universities, national laboratories, and technology firms, to advance grid infrastructure modernization, energy efficiency initiatives, demand response programs, and prosumer engagement. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is a distinguished member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, a holder of patents in electricity grid management, and an accomplished author with over 60 published articles to his credit.
He holds a Ph.D., MPA, MSc, and BSc (Eng.) from esteemed institutions such as the University of Delaware, Columbia University, the University of Greenwich, and the University of Nairobi, respectively.
Additionally, he has completed postdoctoral research fellowships in energy economics and engineering systems at the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration, University of Delaware.
