Mike Ogbalu III is currently serving as CEO of Pan African Payment Settlement System,(PAPSS) in Afreximbank. He leads efforts to develop a continent-wide payment infrastructure aimed at revolutionizing trade and economic growth across Africa.

He is a seasoned Electrical/Electronic Engineer with a distinguished career spanning over 25 years across Technology, Banking, and Payments sectors. His contributions have significantly impacted the financial landscape of Nigeria and Africa at large.

As Divisional CEO of Interswitch Financial Inclusion Services, Mike played a pivotal role in establishing one of Nigeria’s largest agent networks, driving impactful financial inclusion initiatives.

Later, as CEO of Verve International, he successfully transformed Africa’s leading card scheme into a globally recognized brand. Under his leadership, Verve cards were issued in 13 countries and accepted in over 195 countries through a strategic partnership with Discover.

Mike holds an MBA from the prestigious Lagos Business School and is a distinguished Fellow of both the International Academy of Cards and Payments and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Beyond his executive roles, Mike actively contributes to various boards and associations, including the Mobile Payments Scheme Board and as an Advisory Board Member of the Bridge International Academies. He is also a Grand Patron of IAMCP-WIT Nigeria.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the industry, he was honored with the esteemed “Card Personality of the Year” award in 2012.
