Nondumiso Ngwenya

Nondumiso Ngwenya  is the Founder, Dev-Implement, an organization that raises awareness on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to Namibian students.

She has an excellence and dedication towards social impact and community development that has been acknowledged by the Namibian Sun newspaper through the article that was written on her dedication to community development.

She has also been  featured on podcasts such as rise and impact on influential youth in the Namibian community. She received an award from African Pathfinder’s Leader’s Initiative (APLI) for her excellence and dedication to community development as well as an excellence Kickstarter award for successfully starting up and gaining much traction in her organization dev-implement which raises awareness on SDGs on the University of Namibia’s main campus.

Nondumiso founded Dev-Implement, an organization that raises awareness on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where she set up a branch on the university of Namibia, the largest tertiary institution in the country with over 11,000 registered students in 2023.

Through this organization she brought together PhD, Masters and Undergraduate students who have some become climate activists and some who have begun to volunteer in organizations fighting for SDGs 5 and 4. This organization has also led to collaborations between organizations, accelerating and intensifying the impact of their efforts to tackle issues such as period poverty and gender inequality in Namibia.

Nondumiso was also the Project Coordinator of the Windhoek Rotaract Club where she has spearheaded social impact centered projects. This has involved donations of blankets and tents to the Himba children and families who are without shelter who stay in the high density area of Windhoek called Katutura. In addition, organizing RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) which involved identifying and mentoring high school learners who display potential to be leaders in the near future.

She’s also ensured that no student is left behind in their education through her voluntary efforts in NANSO where in 2023 she assisted in the Access to education campaign which helped students during their registration process in Namibia to ensue students manage to successfully register.

Through her great display of leadership and passion for social impact and people, Nondumiso was then elected to become the Student Representative Council (SRC) of Community Development and Gender Affairs after having also served as an electoral commissioner shortly less than a year before the SRC elections took place.

Nondumiso has dedicated a large part of her youth to building her community and lives by the motto of Rotary international which is service above self. She remains innovative and diligent in her efforts to develop her community despite her young age!!
