
Selvon Malcolm Waldron serves as the Executive Director of Genesys Works for the National Capital Region, where he leads a program dedicated to providing high school students in underserved communities with pathways to career success.
Through comprehensive technology and business skills training, meaningful work experiences, college and career coaching, and mentorship relationships, Selvon helps empower young individuals to achieve their full potential.
In addition to his role at Genesys Works, Selvon is an adjunct professor of Nonprofit Leadership and Social Innovation at the University of Maryland – College Park, where he shares his wealth of knowledge and experience with aspiring leaders in the field.
With an extensive background in career access and college preparation, Selvon has made significant contributions to education and human development programs in Washington, DC, and neighboring regions. Throughout his career, he has successfully secured and managed over $40 million in fundraising dollars to support these vital initiatives.
Previously, Selvon held leadership positions at various esteemed organizations, including Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School and Life Pieces to Masterpieces.
At Carlos Rosario, he led efforts focused on student life, employability, and college and career exposure, positively impacting the lives of thousands of DC students. Additionally, he founded Mentor POST, a mentorship and charisma coaching program for educators and community activists.
Selvon’s dedication to community resilience building, education equity, and workforce development has earned him numerous accolades and awards, including the Honorable Ron H. Brown Distinguished Leadership award, the Amtrak/Monumental Pioneer Award, and Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Eleanor Norton, among others.
Currently pursuing his doctoral work in Education Policy at the University of Pittsburgh, Selvon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and an MBA from the University of the District of Columbia. He also earned a master’s degree in Minority and Urban Education from the University of Maryland-College Park and completed the Georgetown University Education Policy and Program Evaluation graduate certificate program.
Selvon’s commitment to service extends beyond his professional endeavors, as he actively serves on the boards of several organizations, including New Futures, University of the District of Columbia School of Business and Public Administration, Evolving Minds, Kellibrew Survivors Network, and UpSkill Enterprise. His dedication to creating positive change in the community is a testament to his passion for education and social impact.
