As a Fellow of the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals (AERMP) and a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), she has earned recognition for her outstanding contributions to the field.
With over two decades of experience in Intelligence, Defense, and Security, Tanwa’s journey began as a U.S Air Force veteran.
Her extensive background includes pivotal roles within the U.S Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S National Security Agency (NSA), where she honed her skills in intelligence operations.
Notably, she served 180 days in Afghanistan, contributing to counter-insurgency, counter-IED, and counter-terrorism efforts across Southwest Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Tanwa’s passion for empowering women in the security sector led her to convene the inaugural Women in Security Conference in Lagos, Nigeria. Through her company, Bulwark Intelligence Solutions, she has provided invaluable services to esteemed organizations such as NATO, the Nigerian Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), among others.
Her academic pursuits include an M.A in Intelligence Studies from the School of Security and Global Studies at American Military University (AMU), solidifying her expertise in the field.
Tanwa’s exceptional contributions have garnered numerous accolades, including being named the “Best Female Security Personality of the Year” by ASIS International Lagos Chapter and recognition as one of the “50 Most Impactful and Award-Winning Female CEOs” by The Guardian Newspaper Nigeria.

Transitioning to a new phase in her career, Tanwa now assumes the role of non-executive director at Bulwark Intelligence Solutions, while also serving as the Manager of Security Audit & Investigation at TotalEnergies Nigeria, a leading international oil & gas company. Her continued dedication to excellence and leadership exemplifies her commitment to advancing security practices in Africa and beyond.
