Ted Colbert holds the distinguished position of Executive Vice President at The Boeing Company, where he serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
In this capacity, he oversees the delivery of innovative solutions to defense, government, space, intelligence, and security clients globally, with significant operations spanning Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. A key member of Boeing’s Executive Council, Colbert plays a crucial role in shaping the company’s strategic direction.
Prior to his current role, Colbert served as president and CEO of Global Services, where he led Boeing’s aerospace services initiatives catering to commercial, government, and aviation industry customers worldwide. His responsibilities included managing global supply chain and parts distribution, aircraft modifications and maintenance, digital solutions, aftermarket engineering, analytics, and training.
Before assuming leadership of Global Services, Colbert held the position of chief information officer (CIO) and senior vice president of Information Technology & Data Analytics at Boeing. In this role, he oversaw all aspects of information technology, information security, data, and analytics, contributing significantly to the company’s growth through IT- and analytics-related revenue-generating programs.
Colbert’s tenure at Boeing also includes leadership roles in the Information Technology Infrastructure and IT Business Systems organizations, where he played instrumental roles in developing and maintaining enterprise-wide network, computing, server, storage, collaboration, and infrastructure solutions, as well as computing application systems supporting various business units.
Prior to joining Boeing, Colbert held senior leadership positions at Citigroup and spent over a decade in Ford Motor Company’s Information Technology organization, where he gained extensive experience in program management, infrastructure engineering and operations, application development, portfolio management, and process reengineering.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Colbert is actively engaged in various advisory and board roles. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and serves on the boards of directors of organizations such as the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus Advisory Board, and New Leaders. Colbert also holds the position of board chairman for the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and serves as a non-executive board member of Archer Daniels Midland.
Colbert’s remarkable achievements have garnered numerous accolades, including being named the Black Engineer of the Year by The Black Engineer of the Year Awards in 2022. He has also been recognized as one of the Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America by Savoy magazine and has received several other prestigious awards for his leadership and contributions to the industry.
Colbert is a graduate of the Dual Degree Engineering Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Morehouse College, holding bachelor’s degrees in industrial and systems engineering and interdisciplinary science. His academic background, combined with his extensive professional experience, positions him as a highly respected leader in the aerospace and technology sectors.
