Joseph Olivier Mendo’o is the Head of the African Youth Delegation in China. He is a Cameroonian and got his Ph.D. from the Peking University School of International Studies.
He is also the Co-founder of the China-Africa Youth Federation (CAYF). During his stay in China, he dedicated his time to volunteering in over 35 Chinese counties and villages, supporting Chinese local villagers with daily tasks, and “Teaching Africa’’ to local communities, students, and youth to debunk myths and misconceptions about Africa, and foster down-to-earth exchanges and mutual understanding between Africa and China.
He initiated and wrote two collective letters to Chinese President Xi in 2021, and got two reply letters from him. He has headed the African youth delegation in various high-profile international forums and often appears on CCTV news and CGTN to share his insights on ongoing trends in Africa- China relations.
