
Gwen Madiba is an award-winning international human rights’ advocate, public speaker, entrepreneur and TV Host who has dedicated her life to empowering and supporting vulnerable women, youth and children globally.
She is passionate about social causes and has travelled across North America, Africa, Europe and Latin America to provide important resources to vulnerable populations and create programs to best support their needs.
Gwen has launched many important initiatives and programs which include a “headphones initiative” that provided over 1400 headphones to students residing in shelters during the pandemic for their online school and the Global Black Coalition (GBC) to support vulnerable visible minorities fleeing the war in Ukraine. As of today, through her leadership and teamwork, the GBC has assisted, helped and rescued over 2000 community members.
Through Equal Chance, she launched programs for homeless and low-income Black families and community members that have positively impacted the lives of thousands of people. These programs include a program for homeless and low-income Black women and their children which gives them access to a wide range of resources that include but are not limited to food, access to free mental health and employment specialists, free diapers, baby products, clothes and more.
Gwen is the founder of the Canadian Black History Month Gala and Equal Chance, an award-winning non-profit organization that supports vulnerable low-income and homeless Black people in Canada. She is the recipient of several awards including the Order of Ottawa, the United Way of Eastern Ontario community builder / Covid-19 Hero award, the Crime Prevention Ottawa Outstanding Achievement Award, the L’Oreal Paris Woman of Worth award to name a few and was included twice in the Women Executive Network of Canada’s list of Most Powerful women in Canada.
