Karimot Odebode

Karimot Odebode is a poet, writer and advocate from Ibadan Nigeria.She is the founder and Project Lead at the Black Girl’s Dream Initiative – a youth-led organisation that works to promote Education, leadership and Gender Equality through Arts, Advocacy, Research, Technology and Sports.

She is the author of ‘a woman has many names’, a published poetry collection with 107 poems. Karimot is a graduate of Law from Obafemi Awolowo University, and an award-winning poet who has performed at several high-level meetings and conferences.

As a creative driven by social justice, she created the Transform Education anthem for the United Nation’s Girls Education Initiative (UNGEl), and her poetry has been featured by Global Education Summit, Plan International, BBC Media Action, ITU etc.Karimot was a two time Youth Champion for ONE Campaign where she advocated for a world free of poverty and inequality.

She was recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Oyo State Government as one of the twenty women that #breakthebias with the work she does in education and gender equality.She is one of the 17 Young Leaders for the SDGs recognized by the United Nations.
