
Halle Bailey is an American singer and actress.
She rose to fame and is best known for being part of the musical duo Chloe x Halle with her older sister Chloe Bailey. Chloe x Halle have released two albums, The Kids Are Alright (2018) and Ungodly Hour (2020). As an actress, Bailey has appeared in the film Last Holiday (2006) and in the television series Grown-ish (2018-2021). Bailey will star as Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of the 1989 Disney animated film The ‘Little Mermaid‘ and the musical remake of the 1985 drama film The Color Purple.
Halle was discovered and mentored by Beyonce, she achieved Grammy-nominated success alongside her sister Chloe before landing the leading role of Ariel in live-action remake “The Little Mermaid” (2020).
Born in Atlanta, GA in 2000, Halle Bailey began performing alongside her older sister Chloe on YouTube from the age of eight. The duo, who named themselves Chloe x Halle, quickly developed a loyal following and after launching their own channel, attracted the attention of Beyonce with their rendition of her track, “Pretty Hurts.”
The superstar subsequently signed the siblings to her Parkwood Entertainment management company, later inviting them to cameo on her visual album, Lemonade, and appear as the opening act on both her Formation World Tour and On the Run II Tour with Jay-Z.
Following their 2016 first EP, Sugar Symphony, and 2017 debut mixtape, The Two of Us, Chloe x Halle dropped their first studio effort, The Kids Are Alright in 2018. The pair co-wrote each of its 16 tracks, also co-producing several, too, and were rewarded with Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Having previously guested on Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” (TBS, 2007-2012), briefly appeared in Queen Latifah vehicle “Last Holiday” (2006) and performed as a choir member in both “Let It Shine” (2012) and “Joyful Noise” (2012).
Halle kickstarted her acting career properly when she was cast alongside her sibling as track athlete Skylar Forster in spin-off sitcom “Grown-ish” (Freeform, 2018- ), with the pair also providing the theme tune. Halle’s profile then skyrocketed when she was confirmed to play mermaid Ariel in “The Little Mermaid” (2020), Rob Marshall’s live-action remake of the 1989 animated Disney classic.
